We are delighted to welcome Dr. Anaëlle Charles as our newest postdoctoral research fellow in the Medical Biodynamics Center. Under Dr. Lei Gao’s supervision, Dr. Charles will take the lead on several ongoing and upcoming research projects focused on aging populations and surgical outcomes.
Dr. Charles brings valuable expertise in motor control, nonlinear dynamics, biostatistics, and cognitive sciences, having completed her PhD in Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her research focuses on investigating age-related cognitive decline and postoperative recovery in populations at risk for neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Through her work, she aims to identify physiological biomarkers that could reduce post-surgical complications, enhance early-stage disease detection, and optimize sleep health and cognitive functions in older surgical patients.
