Dr. Anaelle Charles is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Perioperative Sleep and Brain Health Lab (PSBL) under the supervision of Dr. Lei Gao. She completed her PhD in Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with expertise in motor control, nonlinear dynamics, biostatistics, and cognitive sciences.
Her research focuses on studying age-related cognitive declines and postoperative recovery in populations at risk for neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Charles aims to identify physiological biomarkers to reduce post-surgical complications, enhance early-stage disease detection, and optimize sleep health and cognitive functions in older surgical patients.
